Aishwarya Rai Bachchan born on November 1st, 1973 in Mangalore, Karnataka is one of the finest Indian actresses. Her amazing acting talents combined with her sensuous beauty have made her the dream girl of millions of youngsters.
Aishwarya Rai was born to Krishnaraj Rai, a marine biologist and Vrinda Rai, a writer. Aishwarya Rai has an elder brother named Aditya Rai, an engineer who is working in merchant navy. Aishwarya Rai grew up in Mumbai and has studied at Arya Vidya Mandir High School in Santa Cruz and completed her 11th standard from Ruparel College in Matunga, Mumbai and decided to study architecture. She studied classical music and dance for five years while in her teens.
Aishwarya Rai began modeling since she was in 9th grade. Her first commercial advertisement was for Camlin pencils. She has since appeared in several commercial advertisements such as Prudent, Casio Pager, Sheetal diva, Philips, Pepsi, Palmolive and several others. Aishwarya Rai has been the brand ambassador for Longines watches and L'Oréal. She has also been the Coca Cola Girl for the Middle East and South Asia.
No sooner had she arrived home, Aishwarya Rai was flooded with movie offers from Bollywood down to South Indian language movies. Aishwarya Rai, the queen of beauties finally made her debut in films with Mani Ratnam-directed "Iruvar" in 1997 and simultaneously made her debut in Bollywood with "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya". While "Iruvar" became a hit, "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya" bombed at the box office. But her acting talents have not received rave reviews and won her awards too. Aishwarya Rai's stunning performance in S Shankar-directed Tamil film "Jeans" {1998} carried the movie to one of its blockbuster hits. She played dual role in the movie that has been dubbed into several Indian languages.
Her amazing performances in movies like "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya" "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" {1999}, "Mohabbatein" {2000}, "Devdas" {2002}, "Raincoat" and "Bride & Prejudice" {both 2004}, "Dhoom:2" {2006} has won her several awards. Her performances in a Bengali movie "Chokher Bali" {2003}, "Guru" {2007} and "Jodha Akbar" {2008} have also been critically hailed. Her seven minute item number in "Bunty Aur Babli" {2005}, in which she danced to the number "Kajra Re" along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan has been wildly popular with the fans. Aishwarya Rai has in over forty films most of which have become blockbuster hits.
Prior to her marriage Aishwarya Rai was romantically involved with Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi. Her romantic link up with Salman Khan has left her with bitter bruised memories. Aishwarya Rai finally found solace in Abhishek Bachchan, who she married on April 20th, 2007 in a grand but private ceremony held at Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha residence in Mumbai.
