This duo have been around for about a decade.Nikhil–Vinay have been together since 1991. Nikhil is trained in Western Classical while Vinay has learnt Light Classical. Vinay started his career as a singer years before he met Nikhil.They got their first break in the film Pyar Bhara Dil whose song ‘Banke Kitab Teri’ was quite popular.Their journey had started since then , there was no looking back.

They composed for films like Bewafa Sanam which launched Sonu Nigam as a playback singer. Followed were Uff Yeh Mohabbat, Chor Aur Chand and Papa The Great. They hav ealso given the background score for films Aaja Meri Jaan and English Babu Desi Mem.They have done about 20 films together.

Nikhil – Vinay have also done compositions for popular serials like ‘Teacher’, ‘Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai’, ‘Ajeeb Dastan’ and ‘Heri Pheri’.Their talent got to the top of the charts with Sonu Nigam's popular album Jaan. Jaan popularity displays a distinct Nikhil-Vinay style and the importance of soft romantic melodies.Nikhil and Vinay re-united with Sonu to recreate magic with their next album 'Yaad'that was not much of a success expect for a few scores. They have been doing pop albums with Abhijeet and Anuradha Paudwal as well.

'Nikhil-Vinay' was a rare name in film music direction. Not long after they did Anubhav Sinha's directorial debut 'Tum Bin'. Almost all the tracks of Tum Bin were good some of them being 'Tumhare siva', 'choti choti raatein' and 'koi fariyaad'. They want to do film music, but only with directors who understand their music.

Nikhil-Vinay are contented that people appreciate their music. They are happy that somewhere down the line, they are getting that recognition. Anybody who works that hard deserves nothing less.
